When was BMM conceived and why?

Bengaluru, India’s IT Capital, has been witnessing this unique Midnight Marathon and citizens have been enthusiastically participating in them, in large numbers. Scores of companies, particularly from the IT, ITES and BT sectors, participate in the Marathon in large numbers for improving their brand visibility and team-building while effectively demonstrating their corporate social responsibility by associating with the city’s issues. A large number of NGOs and their celebrity supporters also participate in the Marathon to raise funds and create awareness of their cause.

It is no coincidence that Bengaluru has achieved this hallowed distinction of being called the ‘Knowledge Capital’ of the new flat world. It is the hard work, perseverance and tenacity of our young workforce who work day & night, round the clock to keep our economy growing. They toil while we sleep. They make all us Bangalorean’s proud.

Midnight Marathon – A tribute to our youth: It is to show that Bangalore cares & appreciates their hard work.

RBITC created history by organizing the World’s 1st. Midnight Marathon at night on 19th. May 2007. It was held in Whitefield IT Corridor, in line with the spirit of the event. BMM is one of the few races in India to be a member of Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS-IAAF). AIMS is a member based organization of more than 380 of the world’s leading distance races, from over 100 countries & territories and they work with IAAF on all matters relating to international races.
